MicroStock racing is a very competitive and relatively inexpensive form of racing. The American MicroStock Racing Association (AMSRA) is the sanctioning body that developed MicroStocks through their early years. AMSRA continues to be the MicroStock's largest and most successful organization. Hundreds of MicroStock race cars are now in existence throughout the northeastern United States. The Cars are 78 to 92 inches long, up to 48 inches wide, and 32 to 42 inches tall. All cars are built to resemble Stock Cars or Dirt Modified race cars. The driver is fully enclosed in a roll cage. The MicroStock's Briggs and Stratton Racing Engine is powerful enough to push the car around a 1/4 mile track in about 13 seconds, speeds that are very comparable to much larger 8 cylinder Street Stock racers. The racing itself is extremely exciting with close to 30 cars jockeying for position throughout the entire race. It's very common to see the drivers make it 3, 4 or sometimes even 5 wide to gain every spot possible. There are rules in place to make racing competitive for everyone involved. In fact, it's not unusual to see most cars finish on the lead lap.
